Client Preparation
Please carefully read the below information ahead of your permanent makeup procedure:
Cancellation Policy
Please allow us at least 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule. Deposit's are none refundable and we will require a new deposit to rebook an appointment. Cancellations after 48 hours require a cancellation fee of 50% of your treatment value. Our booking system uses a card capture system and any no shows are automatically charged in full, by booking an appointment you agree via a tick box to adhere to these policies. Our policy is not in place to assign blame or open up a discussion as to whether you should be liable or not, it is in place to protect our time and finances when running a small business and applies to all bookings. We do not offer refunds on our PMU services.
Patch test
While a patch test will be performed during your appointment as an indicator, it does not guarantee the absence of an allergic reaction, and you acknowledge and accept all associated risks and liability should a reaction occur.
If you have previous PMU:
Please note we do not work over all cases of previous work, if your previous set is still very saturated we may advise laser removal before we can treat you. Please confirm with your artist via a photograph or consultation that we are happy to go ahead. We remain to right to turn away cases that are unsuitable for treatment, as we want the best results for you.
Pre Care
Avoid Blood Thinners:
- Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Niacin, Vitamin E, or any other blood-thinning medications or supplements for at least 48 prior to your appointment. Consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medication.
Alcohol & Caffeine:
- Avoid consuming alcohol and excessive caffeine for at least 24 hours before your appointment. These can thin the blood and increase sensitivity.
Facial Treatments & Products
- Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, microdermabrasion, or any harsh facial treatments for at least 2-4 weeks beforehand.
- Discontinue use of Retin-A, Retinols, AHA/BHA products, and any other exfoliating or anti-aging creams on or around the treatment area for at least 2 weeks prior.
Sun Exposure:
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your appointment. A sunburned area cannot be treated.
Botox/Fillers (for facial permanent makeup):
- If you plan to have Botox or fillers, it's best to have your permanent makeup done first, or wait at least 2 weeks after injectables before your permanent makeup appointment.
Hydration:
- Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to ensure your skin is well-hydrated.
(Lip blush only) Moisturise
- Keep lips well hydrated with balm ahead of your appointment, for dry lips we recommend using a scrub also. We can not treat lips with chronic dryness.
This Treatment is Unsuitable For:
Permanent makeup is not recommended for individuals who are:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation in the last 2 weeks
- Taking Accutane (isotretinoin) or have taken it in the past 6 months.
- Prone to keloid scarring.
- Have certain skin conditions in or near the treatment area (e.g., active eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, shingles, open wounds).
- Have a compromised immune system.
- Allergic to topical anesthetics (lidocaine, tetracaine) or pigments.
- Have a viral infection (e.g., cold sores - if you are prone to cold sores, especially for lip procedures, you must take an antiviral medication prescribed by your doctor before and after your appointment).
- Have severe uncontrolled high blood pressure or heart conditions.
- Have epilepsy.
- Are taking blood-thinning medication (unless specifically cleared by your doctor to stop for the procedure).
Aftercare
- Do NOT pick, scratch, or peel the treated area. This can cause scarring, infection, and loss of pigment.
- Hydration for the first 2 week we recommend using an aftercare balm on your tattoo in a thin, breathable layer twice a day. For brows: Bepanthen and for lips: Carmex or similar.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2-4 weeks. If you must be in the sun, wear a wide-brimmed hat or large sunglasses. After initial healing, always use a high SPF sunscreen on the treated area.
- Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools for at least 7-10 days (or until all scabbing has flaked off). These activities can introduce bacteria and dilute the pigment.
- Avoid makeup on or near the treated area until fully healed (typically 7-14 days).
- Do not use any skincare products containing active ingredients like Retin-A, Retinols, Glycolic Acid, or other AHAs/BHAs on or near the treated area, even after healing, as these can fade the pigment over time.
- Excess moisture is to be avoided for the first 2 weeks. Showering and washing your face as normal is fine, however we wouldn't recommend submerging your tattoo in a bath or activities that cause excess sweating such as heavy exercise.
The healing process requires a real degree of trust as your results will go through a few different phases before settling into their final form. Initial results are bold in saturation and colour, then as the skin dries out during healing they can appear flaky and patchy. Once flaking has subsided they can go through what we call a 'ghosting phase' where results appear very light until they finally resurface up to 40% lighter than your initial results. It is normal for results to have imperfections until your initial 4/6 week touch up, where we perfect your dream lips/brows.
